1. (U) In a diplomatic note dated August 20, 2009, the
government of Tajikistan provided a short response to post's
demarche seeking a new approach to food security in advance of
the L'Aquila Summit. The note, in its entirety, reads as
follows:
Begin note:
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan
presents its compliments to the Embassy of the United States of
American in the Republic of Tajikistan and in response to its
note of July 2, 2009, has the honor to inform that the
Government of the Republic of Tajikistan supports the new
approach of the Government of the United States to global food
security.
This initiative of the U.S. Government can contribute to the
agricultural and real sector of the economic development of
Tajikistan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan
avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Embassy of the
United States of America the assurances of its highest
consideration.
