1. (SBU) Post delivered reftel demarche and talking points by
diplomatic note on September 2. Post has requested a meeting
with the MFA official in charge of international
organizations and UN affairs to follow up, but no meeting had
been scheduled by the reply deadline set by Department.
2. (C) A reliable contact at the National Human Rights
Committee (NHRC) told Poloff Caudill on September 3 that
Qatar had no plans to seek reelection to the Human Rights
Council. We continue to seek a meeting with the appropriate
MFA official and will provide any additional information we
obtain by septel.
