Frederiksson told us August 20 that, of Denmark's total
pledge of 20 million Danish Kroner, 10 million will be
distributed to civilian components of AMISOM. The Danish
Embassy in Addis Ababa is currently negotiating the
disbursement of these funds with the AU. The Danish Embassy
in Nairobi is preparing a grant document for the remaining 10
million Danish Kroner. Frederiksson was unaware of the
specific target for those funds, but said they would be used
for development purposes and that the Danes would coordinate
its use through the United Nations Political Office for
Somalia (UNPOS).
