UNCLAS CONAKRY 000595 SIPDIS SENSITIVE E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: PGOV PREL PHUM KDEM ASEC GV SUBJECT: DETAINED POLITICAL LEADERS RELEASED ¶1. (SBU) Mouctar Diallo, the young leader of the New Democratic Forces (NFD) party and one of the political leaders beaten and arrested by security forces during the violence on September 28, called A/DCM at 0130 local time to report that all of the detained political leaders had just been released from custody. Mouctar said that Prime Minister Komara came to the clinic where the political leaders were being treated and told them that he had come directly from CNDD President Moussa Dadis Camara, who had ordered their immediate release. ¶2. (SBU) According to Mouctar, three political leaders were still at the clinic undergoing medical treatment: Cellou Dalein Diallo (UFDG),Oury Bah (UFDG),and Jean-Marie Dore (UPG). Mouctar confirmed that all of the leaders had been severely beaten, but said that Cellou was worse off than the rest. Mouctar had sustained serious, but not life threatening injuries to his head and parts of his body. BROKENSHIRE
