¶1. (U) Embassy Colombo delivered REFTEL to the Republic of
Maldives Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the Maldivian
High Commission in Colombo on 22 September 2009. Post
followed up with the Maldivian High Commission in Colombo and
was advised that while the MFA was still formally evaluating
our demarche, informally the Maldives planned to fully
support the United States' candidacy for Category "A"
re-election to the International Maritime Organization (IMO)
during the IMO Assembly in late November 2009. Regards.
