PLENARY BUT WILL NOT PROVIDE A SPEAKER

(SBU) Charge conducted several conversations on May 22, 25,
and 26 with Additional Secretary Prasad Kariyawasam and
Director General Aruni Wijewardhana of the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs regarding possible Sri Lankan participation
in the Hague Plenary of the Global Initiative to Combat
Nuclear Terrorism. The Foreign Ministry told us that Sri
Lanka is prepared "in principle" to attend the Hague plenary,
but in all likelihood would be unable to provide a speaker to
give a presentation at the meeting. Post will inform
Department of the name of Sri Lanka's representative as soon
as it is received.
