Forced Labor: Post is not aware of forced labor in the production of goods in Maldives. The Employment Act of 2008 prohibits forced labor. -------------- Exploitative Child Labor -------------- ¶3. Post is not aware of exploitative child labor in the production of goods in Maldives. The minimum age of employment is set at 16 years. The Employment Act bars children between 16 and 18 years from hazardous work which may have a detrimental effect on health, education, safety or conduct. However, Maldives has not ratified ILO Convention 138 on Minimum Age for Admission to Employment and Convention 182 on Elimination of Worst Forms of Child Labor. BLAKE
