1. (U) This is an action request -- please see para 3 below.
2. (SBU) Further to Ref A, our Australian Department of
Defence interlocutors mentioned to us the GOA had received a
letter from a senior USG official relating to Project Crok
that included a request to deploy teams to Australia in
support of the launch of two space tracking surveillance
system satellites. They did not recall the author or date of
the letter, however.
3. (SBU) ACTION REQUESTED: To assist Embassy efforts to
arrange approval for deployment of the SDTG/STOS teams to
Perth and Tasmania, Embassy requests Department's assistance
in retrieving and forwarding to us a copy of the referenced
letter.
