(SBU) U.S. Embassy pol/econ section spoke with PETER PAWSEY of ROTOR AND WING SERVICES LTD (RAWS) at P.O. BOX 6262, CAIRNS, QLD on September 22, 2009 to confirm the company's registration as a broker for defense goods or services. Pawsey told us that the company had registered in the past but was no longer interested in brokering U.S. goods or services because of the cost required to register. Econoff followed up with a request to confirm that the company had no intention to register or conduct activities that would require such registration. Pawsey confirmed on October 22 that the company had not filed a registration renewal, but did not confirm that the company was no longer conducting activities that would require registration. ¶2. (SBU) With no further information forthcoming on this case, post requests that PM/DTCC confirm that the company is not registered and is no longer eligible to broker U.S. goods and services. We will direct RAWS to online resources to make sure they are aware of their legal obligations.
