(C) On May 21, we demarched MFA Cabinet Advisor for
Multilateral Affairs Amr Al-Gowaily to urge GOE support for
the applications of the Democracy Coalition Project and the
International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission to the
ECOSOC Committee on NGOs (reftel). Al-Gowaily was familiar
with the Democracy Coalition Project's recommendation that
Egypt not be invited to the next Community of Democracies
Ministerial meeting. He said he would consult with other MFA
offices and the Egyptian Mission in New York, and provide us
with any substantive response.
