1. PAO met with Dr. Abdullah El-Hossieny Helal, Vice President for
Educational and Students Affairs, Al-Azhar University, on October 8,
to discuss possible cooperation and exchanges with Kabul University.
Dr. Helal said that Kabul University should send proposals to him.
He added that Al-Azhar is happy to cooperate with Kabul, including
sending its professors to Kabul and accepting students and
professors from Kabul at Al Azhar. He stressed, however, that
Al-Azhar would need a formal protocol as they have with many other
foreign universities throughout the Islamic world.
