(SBU) Acting EconCouns delivered reftel demarche on July 6 to
Christian Hotton of the Argentine MFA's Directorate of International
Organizations. Hotton had no substantive comment on the matter,
noting that the Secretariat of Communication (in the Ministry of
Planning and Public Works) handled International Telecommunications
Satellite Organization (ITSO) issues. He said that Communication
Secretary Carlos Salas would normally attend ITSO meetings but was
unable to attend this one. Therefore, Carlos Chab, Advisor to
Secretary Salas, would represent the GoA at the ITSO Assembly. Upon
contacting the Secretariat, A/EconCouns was told that Chab had
already left for Rome on July 6. A/EconCouns provided the points to
the Secretariat.
