1. (SBU) Charge d'Affaires delivered reftel talking points to
Mihaly Bayer, Hungary's ambassador-at-large for the Nabucco
project. Bayer promised to pass the points to Hungary's
delegation to the negotiations on the interstate agreement
(ISA),which he expected to conclude today (May 29).
2. (SBU) He indicated Hungary could support consensus on our
request, but feared the commercial implications might make
consensus difficult. In Bayer's words, eliminating the
reference to an entry point at the Iranian-Turkish border
could result in a sound government document, but no business
deal. Charge shared our reftel's "acceptable" language and
Bayer said he would ensure our proposal was considered.
