Pol/econoff delivered the demarche to the U.S. desk officer
at the Hungarian MFA on March 20. MFA responded on March 27,
that Hungary embraces the U.S. platform of humanitarian aid
and recovery assistance, supports a cease-fire and believes
the borders should be open immediately. MFA will support the
conference as State Secretary, Laszlo Varkonyi, will attend
the conference and give remarks on Hungary's financial
contribution. The amount or scope of the contribution is not
yet known.
