(C) Response to reftel inquiries for St. Lucia follows. -- Has the host country, in Post's opinion, worked to promote the advancement of democracy and human rights in Cuba? No. St. Lucia has done nothing to advance democracy and human rights in Cuba. -- Has the host country made public statements or undertaken other governmental actions, such as resolutions in national assemblies condemning human rights abuses in Cuba; or actions in support of civil society in Cuba through the host country's diplomatic missions or other fora? No. St. Lucia has done nothing to support civil society or condemn human rights abuses in Cuba. -- Have there been any high-level diplomatic visits between Cuba and the host country in the past six months? No. There have been no high-level diplomatic visits between Cuba and St. Lucia in the past six months. -- What is the nature of investments (and names, if known) that host country businesses have in Cuba? There are no St. Lucian businesses known to have investments in Cuba. -- Are there any bilateral trade agreements or other cooperative agreements between host country and Cuba? Yes. CARICOM has a trade agreement with Cuba that has been ratified by St. Lucia. -- Are there any exchange programs between host country and Cuba, including but not limited to: scholarships for host country nationals to study in Cuba; Cuban-paid medical travel for host country nationals; and Cuban doctors working in the host country? Yes. St. Lucians travel to Cuba for medical care, university education, and athletic training. Cuban eye doctors work out of Victoria Hospital in Castries. HARDT
