1. (SBU) On March 4, Post delivered REFTEL letter from Acting
National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) Assistant Administrator
James Balsiger to Aldemir Gregolin, Brazil's Minister of Aquiculture
and Fishing. Post followed up by informing Osvaldo Barbossa, the
International Affairs Advisor for the Secretariat of Aquiculture and
Fishing, and Fernando Coimbra, the Director of the Ministry of
Exterior Relations' Environment Division.
2. (SBU) On March 12, Barbossa provided an update, saying that the
Brazilian government has been studying the matter and would be
preparing its response. When Post receives a response it will pass
on to Washington.
