1. (SBU) The Charge delivered reftel points to Kyrgyz
Foreign Minister Kadyrbek Sarbayev on July 5. Sarbayev
acknowledged the seriousness of incidents involving
journalists, and the Charge suggested that it would be
helpful if President Bakiyev make a statement regarding those
incidents or the conduct of the election. Sarbayev was
noncommittal about any presidential statement. Embassy will
report any additional feedback septel.
