Econoff delivered reftel points on the Department of Labor's Child Labor Report and List of Goods Produced by Child Labor to Kyrgyzstan Ministry of Labor Acting Head of the Department of Labor and Social Partnership, Gulmira Kasymaliyeva, and Chief Specialist and Child Labor Coordinator Vera Sasybayeva on September 11. Sasybayeva noted that enforcement of the use of child labor in agriculture, including cotton and tobacco, is difficult since in most cases the children are helping their parents on family farms. She said the government is working with UNICEF and the ILO to reduce the use of child labor, and described the government's activities, including the creation of a government action plan and an inter-agency working group.
