(S) On April 24, MFA Export Control Division Desk Officer Wiebke Wacker provided EconOff with a German-language non-paper response to the Ref B non-paper addressing Iranian attempts to procure German-origin servo motors in support of their unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) program. Wacker did not have any further information to add. ¶2. (S) Begin text of informal Embassy translation of German-language non-paper: With reference to the non-paper from January 30, 2009 regarding a procurement by the Iranian company Farazeh Equipment Distributor Company (FEDCO) for servo motors from the German company Volz Servos GmbH & Co. KG in support of Iran's rocket program, we take this opportunity to bring the following information to the attention of U.S. authorities: -- We thank you for the background information in connection with the procurement attempt by the Iranian company Farazeh Equipment Distributor Company (FEDCO). -- The German company, Volz Servos GmbH & Co. KG, has been sensitized verbally by German export control authorities concerning this procurement attempt. -- The company reported that they have not received a request from either the Iranian company, FEDCO, nor the Iranian citizen, Hamed Ghavinian. -- To prevent the possibility of a future illegal delivery, the German Customs Office has been informed of the procurement attempt reported in the non-paper.
