1. (SBU) In response to Reftel demarche, Michael
Fabri-Weiland of the German MFA United Nations desk informed
Econoff that Germany "will gladly support" the candidacy of
Judge Mark Painter for a position on the UN Appeals Tribunal.
Fabri-Weiland also requested U.S. support of German
candidate Thomas Laker for a position on the UN Dispute
Tribunal.
