(SBU) On September 10, 2009, Ambassador Murphy delivered the invitation to the September 26 meeting on Partnering for Food Security on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and accompanying draft statement during an introductory call on Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Copies of both documents were also shared with the Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and Ministry of Agriculture (BMLV). ¶2. (SBU) Contacts at the MFA and BMZ advised that no decisions regarding German participation in the September 26 meeting or the draft statement will be made until after the September 14-15 meeting in Washington, "The Road from L'Aquila." Post will report additional information when available. ¶3. (SBU) NOTE: Separately, Embassy has confirmed that Foreign Minister Steinmeier will not travel to New York for UNGA.
