Poloff delivered reftel demarche and diplomatic note on USG
candidacy for the World Health Organization (WHO) Executive Board to
Ayesha Borland, Western Hemisphere Desk Officer at the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, on November 17. Ms. Borland indicated that Belize
usually votes with the CARICOM group on WHO issues. Ms. Borland
expressed appreciation for the USG support of the Barbados candidacy
and that Belize places great importance on the presence of its
regional candidate on the Board. Ms. Borland conveyed that support
of its regional candidate (Barbados) is greatly appreciated and if
such support is given by the USG, then Belize will reciprocate with
support of the USG candidacy.
