1. (C) PolOff delivered demarche requesting Lebanese support
for nonproliferation efforts by subscribing to the Hague Code
of Conduct Against Ballistic Missile Proliferation (HCOC) to
Majid Ramadan, Head of the Americas Desk at the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs (MFA),on May 14. On June 17 Hazem Abdel
Samad of Ramadan's office, called PolOff to report that the
demarche was sent to the Ministry of Defense for review and
to the Lebanese UN Mission in New York. Samad said he or
Ramadan would report back to PolOff with any future
substantive responses from the MFA or MOD.
