¶1. (C) China's position not to recognize Kosovo remains
unchanged, MFA European Affairs Department Balkans Division
Deputy Division Director Tian Yishu told PolOff February 13
in response to reftel points urging recognition of Kosovo.
China was aware of the upcoming anniversary of Kosovo's
declaration of independence, Tian said, and continued to hope
that the "relevant parties can solve their dispute through
peaceful dialogue." Though China was aware of the
developments related to Kosovo that had taken place since
Kosovo's independence, these developments have not caused
China to change its position, he said.
