(C) On October 14, PolOff delivered to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Organizations and Conferences Department, Human Rights Affairs Division Deputy Director Yao Shaojun reftel points on the U.S. position on the Report of the UN Fact-Finding Mission on the Gaze Conflict (the Goldstone Report). ¶2. (C) Yao said it seemed likely that the issue would remain before the Human Rights Council for "quite a long time." Yao said China understands that the United States will vote against any unacceptable resolution presented during the Human Rights Council Special Session. Yao agreed to convey the U.S. position to the Chinese missions in Geneva and New York. He predicted that there would be "close coordination" between the U.S. and Chinese missions on this issue.
