shared reftel points informing China of an upcoming purchase
of maraging steel from a Chinese company to an Iranian entity
associated with Iran's Defense Industries Organization (DIO)
with MFA North American and Oceanian Affairs Department USA
Division Director An Gang on January 15. An said he would
pass the information to colleagues in the Arms Control and
Disarmament Department. (Note: MFA Arms Control and
Disarmament Department officials continue to be "unavailable"
to meet with PolOffs since the October 3 announcement of U.S.
arms sales to Taiwan, which prevented detailed discussion of
this issue.)
