(S) PolOff delivered reftel demarche and nonpaper urging China to investigate and prevent the supply of a key chemical weapons precursor and training to a chemical manufacturing plant in Iran to MFA Arms Control and Disarmament Department Biological and Chemical Weapons Division Deputy Director Yang Yi on May 6. Yang noted China's desire to deal with proliferation cases "seriously." She promised to relay the information contained in reftel to both her superiors and to the "appropriate entities." ¶2. (S) Yang also explained that her Division would now cover both export control matters and policy issues related to chemical and biological weapons. She expressed her desire to "improve coordination between Washington and Beijing." On that score, she was especially appreciative that the information contained in reftel provided the address of Shenzhen Yujie Electronics Company Ltd.
