Thailand's Statement on the launch of a long-range rocket by
the Democratic People's Republic of Korea
Thailand expresses its grave concern on the launch of a
long-range rocket by the Democratic People's Republic of
Korea (DPRK) on 5 April 2009 at 11.30 hrs. (KST). We believe
that this action not only contravenes UNSC Resolution 1718
but also adversely affects peace and security in the Korean
Peninsula and the region.
Thailand urges all parties concerned to exercise restraint
and reiterate its call for a peaceful solution through
diplomatic channels in addressing this issue.
Thailand is fully committed to enhancing long term peace and
stability in the region and is ready to work closely with all
countries, including in the ARF process, to achieve a
sustainable solution.
End statement text.
