1. (C) We engaged Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Director
of the European Affairs Department Pachuen Phornmongkol on
March 16 and conveyed reftel's points condemning Russia's
decision to recognize South Ossetia and Abkhazia as
independent states. Pachuen stated that Thailand has not
recently been approached by Russia regarding South Ossetia
and Abkhazia, and she explained that the RTG does not support
Russia on this issue.
