Post contacted Ms. Sukuman Ladpli, Director of the
International Organization Cooperation Division of the
Ministry of Finance's Fiscal Policy Office, March 11 and
explained the USG position regarding the Asian Development
Bank's (ADB) review of its safeguard policies addressing
the environment, indigenous peoples, and resettlement
(reftel). Sukuman explained that she had not yet heard of
the ADB safeguard policy, noting that she was only familiar
with that of the World Bank. She explained that she would
review the Royal Thai Government's (RTG) position regarding
the issue and communicate it back to theEmbassy as soon as
able.
