Desk Officer for the Americas and Europe, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mahamadou Nimaga thanked Embassy for its remarks. Nimaga said the Ministry would communicate the USG's concerns to the Malian government's representative at the International Telecommunication Satellite Organization (ITSO) meeting in Rome scheduled for July 8-9. Nimaga said Mali would first seek to clarify whether an African Union position on this matter exists, and that Mali would otherwise seek to support the position of the U.S., an important partner. Mali's representative at the ITSO meeting is Baba Konate, Telecommunications Special Advisor at the Ministry of Communications and New Technologies. MILOVANOVIC
