(U) Econ and Treasury delivered reftel demarche and press release to
our MFA contact for terrorist financing issues Ambassador Mohammed
al Humaimidi. The Ambassador had no immediate comment on the U.S.
designation of First East Export Bank, but said he is continuing to
liaise with the Foreign Minister and Prime Minister's Office on
sanctions issues. To our knowledge, First East Export Bank has no
presence in Iraq. We will report any subsequent GOI response on
this matter septel.
