1. (U) This is a response to STATE 35384 regarding BLUE
LANTERN end use check on license 050092728.
2. (U) Post has contacted the Multi-National Security
Transition Command in Iraq (MNSTC-I) J-4 and they confirm the
receipt of DTC Case 050092728, to include 7,500 M&P9 Pistols,
9mm, from Smith & Wesson Corp via email channels. The
weapons arrived, and serial numbers have been logged and
reported to LOGSA. The weapons are currently at the Taji
National Depot Complex, the supply depot in Taji, north of
Baghdad that, per MNSTC-I policy statement #03-08, served as
the principle depot for distribution for all U.S.-provided
defense articles for the Iraqi Security Forces (ISF). The
Iraqi Security Assistance Mission (ISAM, formerly SAO) is
also aware of the receipt and was informed via phone and
email channels.
3. (U) Verification was completed based on agreed procedures
after joint DOS Blue Lantern/DOD Golden Sentry team visit in
February (ref B). Post's POL-MIL section worked directly
with MNSTC-I J4 and ISAM to coordinate verification and
confirm receipt in compliance with NDAA Section 1228.
