1. (C) DepPolCouns delivered reftel demarche on the signing
of the U.S.-Israel Anti-Smuggling MOU to MFA A6 Directorate
for Middle East Affairs deputy head Maria Zisi. Zisi was
grateful for the information but had no substantive comment.
2. (C) It was the opinion of the Embassy Country Team that
announcement of the signing of the MOU would not
significantly raise the security threat to U.S. personnel or
facilities in Greece. The Mission community is already at a
heightened level of alert due to frequent recurring
demonstrations directed against official U.S. facilities.
