1. (C) Reftels A and B detail Turkish support for Kosovo's
bid to join the World Bank and International Monetary Fund.
At an April 14 meeting, Treasury Minister Mehmet Simsek
offered to seek additional support for Kosovo's bid while he
was in Washington for the WB/IMF spring meeting.



2. (C) On April 29, Minister Simsek gave us a status report
on discussions he held. Saudi Arabia's Finance Minister will
give full support and promised to secure support from other
countries. Bahrain's Finance Minister agreed to look into
the issue but was vague in his response. The Nigerian
Finance Minister said his country will support Kosovo's bid.
Pakistan's Advisor to the PM and State Minister said Pakistan
will support Kosovo's bid and seek the support of some Asian
countries.
