on Kosovo's application for membership in the International
Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB) to Central Bank
Governor Dr. Umayya Toukan and Deputy Governor Kholoud
Saqqaf. Toukan, who is Jordan's alternate IMF governor and
who plans to attend the April meetings, interrupted the
request for a "yes" vote with an emphatic "done." He
explained that Jordan is sympathetic to Kosovo's plight and
had provided humanitarian assistance. The GOJ, therefore,
supported IMF and WB membership and efforts to promote
stability and integrate Kosovo's economy in the international
financial system. Toukan reported that Jordan had received
the ballot by e-mail and that he would draft the appropriate
response for Finance Minister Bassem Al-Salem, Jordan's IMF
governor, to send. He encouraged EmbOffs to pursue
membership issues separately with the Ministry of Planning
and International Cooperation, Jordan's WB representative.
