CONFERENCE

(SBU) Pol Chief delivered on February 19 reftel demarche on
USG goals for the March 2 Sharm Al-Sheikh conference to
Mohammed Ensour, assistant to the Foreign Minister's private
office director. Ensour commented that Jordan shared the USG
goals for the conference and, in response to a Government of
Egypt request, was seeking confirmation of whether Jordanian
construction companies would be interested in participating
in the reconstruction of Gaza. Ensour noted that the GOJ
would continue to channel foreign and domestic donations to
Gaza through the Hashemite Charitable Organization, adding
that the GOJ was unlikely to have funds to pledge financial
government assistance for Gaza.
