(S) On August 17 Dr. Bishr Al Khasawneh, Director of the
Private Office at the Ministry of Foriegn Affairs (MFA),told
Pol Chief that the GOJ had denied overfight clearance to two
suspect flights per reftel c demarche request. According to
Khasawneh, the Minister of Tranportation informed the Foreign
Minister that Jordanian aviation authorities had denied
overflight authorization to one flight operated by Badr
Airlines, and another operated by a different carrier in
direct response to the USG request. Little information is
available at this time, but Post will seek to confirm this
report and clarify the details septel.
