(C) Jordan formally recognized Kosovo on July 7 following
months of internal discussion. On the recommendation of
Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh, the Council of Ministers
agreed to support full diplomatic relations rather than a
gradual increase in unofficial ties (Ref A). According to
MFA contacts, the official exchange of letters "will be
ironed out later." It remains unclear whether Jordan will
have a resident or non-resident ambassador in Pristina -- MFA
officials told us that it will largely depend on what Kosovo
reciprocally offers.
