(SBU) Econoff delivered reftel demarche to the Secretary
General of Jordan's Ministry of Information and
Communications Technology, Bashar Bashaireh. Bashaireh said
that he will convey to the Jordanian delegation in Rome,
which is likely to be comprised of Jordan Embassy personnel
based in Rome, the U.S. Government's opposition to the
Extraordinary Assembly of the International
Telecommunications Satellite Organization (ITSO) formally
authorizing arbitration against the United States and the
United Kingdom. Bashaireh said that the Jordanians would
welcome the opportunity to discuss the issue with the U.S.
delegation attending the ITSO Extraordinary Assembly in Rome,
if time permits.
