1. The African Union (AU) has announced that the theme of the 2010
AU Summit will be "Information and Communication Technologies in
Africa: Challenges and Prospects for Development."
2. The schedule of meetings is as follows:
a) Permanent Representative Committee of Ambassadors (PRC): 25-26
January, 2010
b) 16th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council: 28-29 January,
2010
c) 14th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and
Government: 31 January - 2 February, 2010
3. As requested reftel, names of those wishing to participate in
the Summit should be submitted to the USAU no later than December 18
in order for post to secure access to the Summit. Please slug your
cable responses "for USAU". Point of contact for the Summit is
A/DCM Joel Maybury, mayburyJF@state.gov.
