1. (C) POLOFF delivered subject demarche January 8 to Mr.
Kingsley Karium, Director, Africa and Regional Cooperation
Department, of the Ghana Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
Regional Integration and NEPAD. Mr. Karium was leaving later
in the day to attend the ECOWAS meeting scheduled in Abuja.
Karium told POLOFF that Ghana would support ECOWAS measures
to encourage Guinea to return to civilian rule and begin the
process of democratic reform. He added that Ghana would be
consistent with its democratic principles.
2. (C) Dr. Chabas was not in the country.
