(C) Per reftel, the Ambassador spoke October 16 with Victor
Gbeho, President Mills' Foreign Policy Advisor. The
Ambassador urged Ghana to support ECOWAS President Chambas'
call for a UN role in investigating the September 28 events
in Guinea at the October 17 Abuja meeting. Gbeho said Ghana
would be represented by the Foreign Minister in Abuja. He
said he had heard that Chambas would raise the issue,
although the GOG has not yet been informed officially.
However, Gbeho said that Ghana would support a UN role in
investigating the September 28 events, stressing that "we are
all sickened by what happened in Guinea."
