1. (C) CDA conveyed reftel points to Ambassador Thaddeus Dan
Hart, Special Senior Assistant to the President (Foreign
Affairs). Hart expressed appreciation for the U.S. demarche
and said it would strengthen Nigeria's efforts to ensure a
united ECOWAS position at the ministerial and heads of state
meetings next month. Hart said he would ensure our points
were passed on to both Foreign Minister Ojo Maduekwe,
currently in Accra, and President Yar'Adua.
