1. (U) The Mission delivered on September 15 the reftel-requested
demarche, encouraging GON's participation in the UNGA food security
event.
2. (U) The Mission also spoke with a senior contact at the Ministry
of Agriculture and Water Resources who promised to bring the
invitation to the attention of the Minister. The Mission will
follow up with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of
Agriculture and Water Resources later this week and update
Washington on their response.
3. (U) This cable has been coordinated with Consulate Lagos.
