Ref email requested that post conduct a pre-license check for license application D423306: Compact High Frequency Multi-Beam Echo Sounder which is controlled under ECCN 6A001. The U.S. license applicant is R2SONIC, Santa Barbara, CA. ¶2. On September 6, 2009 Export Control Officer met with Mr. Alasdair Murray, Sales Engineer at Seatronics's Mina Port Abu Dhabi Office/Warehouse. Murray advised that Seatronics (www.seatronics-group.com) specializes in the rental of marine electronics equipment and rents exclusively to the off shore oil and gas industry in Abu Dhabi. Murray advised that the majority of their business is in the UAE with some also in Oman. Murray was well aware of the restrictions on U.S. origin items to embargoed destinations. Murray further advised that they had their customers sign statements indicating that U.S. origin products were not to be used or transferred to prohibited destinations during the rental period. ¶3. Regarding this transaction Murray stated that this Echo sounder will be used to map the ocean surface for underwater construction and off shore oil platform mapping applications. This particular item will be used by Seatronics as a demonstration model for prospective rental customers, the majority of whom are Abu Dhabi government oil and gas companies. Murray also readily provided ECO will all relevant documentation including the purchase order for this transaction. ¶4. Post considers Seatronics LTD to be a reliable recipient of U.S. origin items for this transaction. GREENE
