(C) On August 13, EconOff delivered reftel points requesting the UAE
to support continued development of the fuel bank concept to MFA
Special Representative for International Nuclear Cooperation and UAE
IAEA PermRep Hamad Al Kaabi. Al Kaabi said the UAE will support USG
efforts and that he would approach the Secretariat to encourage the
completion of a discussion document. Al Kaabi said he was
disappointed in the outcome of the June Board of Governors meeting,
particularly the NAM statement that the IAEA Secretariat should not
accept donations.
