UAE PARTICIPATION IN 64th UNGA

(SBU) In response to Department request for initial information regarding attendance of UAEG officials at the 64th UNGA (reftel),as of August 5 we have receive only a delegation list of middle and lower level MFA officials requiring official visas (one first secretary, three second secretaries, two third Secretaries, and 10 diplomatic attaches). ¶2. (SBU) Many senior UAEG officials are currently out of the country, expected to return around 20 August for the beginning of Ramadan. Past attendance suggests that the Emirati rep will not be UAE Head of State or Head of Government attendance at UNGA. Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed al Nahyan, is likely to attend some portion of the UNGA, but this has not been reported by the UAEG. Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affair may also attend. ¶4. (U) Post will provide updated travel and attendance information as it becomes available. GREENE
