(S) Presented with reftel concerns about Oasis Freight Agency's possible name change, MFA Director of International Organizations Yacub al-Hosani told Pol Chief January 13 that the UAEG kept a close eye on suspicious companies, implying close scrutiny of IRISL-related organizations. He said UAE security vets corporations as part of the procedure for changing names, and that the procedure was complex enough to ensure that the effort would be noticed. Whether the UAEG decided to prevent a change, or permit it and monitor the newly-named entity, was a security decision. ¶2. (S) Al-Hosani undertook to relay our concerns (and substance of the nonpaper) to appropriate agencies to ensure close scrutiny; Pol Chief asked to be informed of developments, including the names of any newly formed entities that may require our mutual vigilance.
