(C) In an April 13 meeting on other topics (septels),Minister of
State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Anwar Gargash pointed out to the
Ambassador that the UAEG was "ahead" of its commitments for funding
assistance to the Palestinian Authority (PA). He said both the USG
and Egypt had urged immediate UAE action (PA President Abu Mazen
having made the pitch in Cairo recently). Without citing overall
figures (except an aside about $5 million recently earmarked for
radio and television costs),Dr. Gargash said the general UAEG view
was that it is confidently "ahead of schedule" for the year.
